My husband and I just went to Pere Lachaise cemetery this afternoon and I snapped a photo with the quote that you mention "There are days that might outmeasure years. . ." and I wondered if it was from a poem, thus I found your site. We've been living in Paris for a year and this is my third visit to Pere Lachaise but I always visit cemeteries wherever I go; I have done so since visiting family graves when I was a little girl with my mother and aunt. I apparently view them quite differently and do not see them at all as related to abandoned buildings. Yes, their families may all be gone, and it is sad to see some in disrepair, but you and I and others have passed by--and because they have stones in cemeteries, people may note their name, admire their memorial, and wonder about them and think of them and what their life might have been like--at least I do. In addition, many of the monuments are truly works of art and someone cared enough when they passed to memorialize them.

The posted site was fascinating! I got into a professional's site of abandoned houses in Detroit that were so sad...but equally compelling. Thanks for helping me spend an interesting hour on my time off :)
